Lord Shani is known to be a powerful divine entity and one who rewards hard work, ethical living and patience. Shani Jayanti - the birth anniversary of Shani Dev offers a powerful spiritual opportunity to restore balance, discipline, and justice in our lives. According to Vedic astrology, Shani Dev is one of the most karmic planets and is often misunderstood as a harbinger of misfortune. But he is one Lord who rewards when the right time comes.
This Shani Jayanti, is your chance to align your home’s energy with the blessings of Lord Shani. Use these simple yet impactful Vastu tips that promote harmony, remove obstacles, and invite divine protection.
Respect the cleaners and treat them right.
These cleaners can be your maid, toilet cleaners, gardner or any other staff member that keeps your home neat and clean. Talk to them with respect and never ever get angry with them as this may anger Lord Shani as per Vedic Vastu. These people ensure that your homes are clean, making way for positive energy to flow in. Be empathetic towards them to attract luck all around the year.
The West Zone of the house should be free of Vastu dosh or faults.
The West zone is powered by Saturn; the planet of Shani should not have any kind of Vastu dosh. If there is any sort of dosh it is best to consult a Vedic Vastu expert or consultant who can help you remove the dosh by taking appropriate steps.
This is also for those whose Shani is not in good position on the horoscope or is not favouring them owing to planetary position. This zone should be free of any Vastu dosh and it is best to get it corrected on time.
Adopt Chhaya Daan or donating your shadow ritual:
This beautiful ritual entails donating your shadow in the feet of Lord Shani. To this one has to have a board steel/iron vessel, Sarsoon ka tel or mustard oil and a broad container/mason jar. Now take the board vessel, pour the oil and look at the reflection of your face in the vessel for about a minute. After that fill this oil in the container and offer it at the feet of Shani Dev. It is best to do this ritual on Saturday as it is a day of Shani Dev. This can be done by anyone as this ritual is very beneficial for one and all.
Perform oil bath on Saturday:
This is a popular ritual in South India where people bathe with oil on Saturday before the normal bath. As per the Vedic rules this bath is taken top to bottom and not the other way round- you start pouring oil from her head that drips right to your feet. Remember to use sesame oil only for this ritual. In case, you don’t want to pour the oil, start applying from head, shoulder and then to the feet. Once this is done one can take a normal shower with soap and shampoo. This ritual is specifically beneficial for those who have weak Shani.
Paint the West Wall in Shades of blue:
Place a photograph of Lord Hanumanji in the West zone of the wall. Every Saturday face the photo and recite Hanuman Chalisa for inviting good vibes in your home. Also, colour the Western wall with shades of blue, place curtains or cushions in blue as well. These tones resonate with Shani’s grounded energy and help reinforce structure, focus, and resilience.
