Young actress Darshana Banik is in happy space right now and why not? She has been paired opposite none other than Jisshu Sengupta playing a dysfunctional couple in Kamaleshwar Mukherjee’s upcoming ‘Mukhomukhi’. The ensemble cast also includes a bunch of experienced actors like Paayel Sarkar, Rajatava Dutta, Gargee Roychowdhury, Anjan Dutt, Shaheb Bhattacharjee, Ushasie Chakraborty and Padmanabha Dasgupta among others.
Jisshu plays a depressed musician Sounak working with an ad agency who fails to convince his creative pursuits to everyone.

Being a self-obsessed intellectual Sounak is a loyal yet confused husband. Darshana will be seen as Sounak’s wife Anusuya who is keen to get a job and an identity. As a devoted and dependent woman Anusuya is a loyal critic of her husband’s work but calls intellectualism pretence. Life takes a shocking turn when Sounak and Anusuya get separated due to some complex adjustment disorders.
One evening Manish (Shaheb) and Pritha (Ushasie), common friends of Sounak visit their lonely, stubborn friend and try their best to patch up the couple. But it eventually sheds light on so many issues like greed, freedom and regimentation, economic imbalance, power equations, corruption, gender biasness and even some surprising religious fanaticism. What happens next makes the storyline an intriguing one.
Jisshu who is working with Kamaleshwar Mukherjee for the first time admits he was a bit confused when he first read the script: “To be honest, when I first went through the script, I couldn’t understand much of the story. I have watched so many films but nothing matched the script of ‘Mukhomukhi’. Then I had a few sessions with Kamaleshwar da and while shooting for almost a year, I found out it’s actually trying to showcase the inner conflicts that often trouble us.”
Debojyoti Mishra has composed the Music ‘Mukhomukhi’ which will release on February 1.
