'Biriyaani' selected into Jojga NETPAC Asian Film Festival
Kani Kusruti starrer ‘Biriyaani’ has been getting selected to many prestigious film festivals and winning awards too.
The movie, which won Kani Kusruti this year’s Best Actress Award at the Kerala State Film Award, will next be screened at the Jojga NETPAC Asian Film Festival, which will be held in Indonesia.
Announcing the same, ‘Biriyani’ director Sajin Baabu wrote on his page, “Dear friends, we are pleased to announce the selection of "Biriyaani" at the 15th Jogja NETPAC Asian Film Festival to be held in Indonesia from 25th - 29th of this month(sic).”
In the film, Kani Kusruti plays a character named Khadeeja, whose brother goes missing.

The movie also has actors Surjit Gopinath, Anil Nedumangad, Shyam Reji in major roles. The film’s director Sajin has earlier directed movies like ‘Asthamayam Vare’ and ‘Ayaal Sassi.’
The movie, which had premiered at the Asiatic Film Festival in Rome in October last year and went on to win the NETPAC Award for the best film there, has also already earned praises from platforms like Madrid Festival, the 12th Bengaluru International Film Festival where the movie won a Special Jury Award, Padmarajan Award for Best Screenplay and more. The movie was also selected in the BRICS competition category at the 42nd Moscow Film Festival.
‘Biriyani’ has also been selected by various other international film festivals across many other countries like United States, France, Germany and Nepal.
As for Kani’s other upcoming projects, we hear that the team of her previous Malayalam film ‘Cocktail,’ which also starred actors like Anoop Menon and Jayasurya, might team up again.
