Nani needs less than Rs 7 Crore for HIT 3 to become his biggest hit replacing Dasara

Natural Star Nani's latest film HIT 3 made a thunderous start at the box office, but its momentum seems to be losing steam quicker than expected. As of its 14th day, the film has collected an estimated Rs 75.25 crore at the India box office. Now, it stands just under Rs 7 crore away from surpassing the lifetime business of Nani’s previous highest grosser, Dasara, which earned ₹81.2 crore.Released with high expectations and a wide multilingual rollout, HIT 3 opened to a stellar Rs 21 crore on its first Thursday — Nani’s biggest opening day ever. The film held decently over its first weekend, raking in Rs 52.15 crore in its first four days. However, the collections began to dip from Monday onwards, with the film witnessing a sharp 64% drop on Day 5 and struggling to maintain numbers through the weekdays.The first week wrapped up with a solid Rs 63.65 crore. But as the second week progressed, the film’s daily collections saw a steady decline, falling to Rs 75 lakhs on Day 14 as per early estimates. While weekend jumps did offer some hope — with Rs 3 crore coming in on the second Saturday — the consistent drops through the weekdays have now made it increasingly unlikely for HIT 3 to topple Dasara from the top spot in Nani’s career.The film, directed by Sailesh Kolanu, was lauded for its slick action and Nani’s performance, but mixed word-of-mouth and tough competition from other releases seem to have slowed its long-term run.With just Rs 6.68 crore to go, it would typically be an easy target for a film that started this big. However, the rate at which the numbers are sliding makes the chase for Dasara’s record look doubtful. Unless a miraculous third weekend turnaround happens, HIT 3 might settle as Nani’s second-biggest hit — impressive nonetheless, but shy of claiming the throne.HIT 3 also featured Srinidhi Shetty as it's leading lady and the makers also announced the fourth installment of the HIT franchise with Karthi in the lead.
