Adivi Sesh and
Mrunal Thakur are teaming up for the first time in the upcoming Telugu action thriller 'Dacoit', directed by Shaniel Deo. Rumours regarding the film's release have been swirling recently.
According to a report by Andhra Box Office, 'Dacoit' is likely to hit theaters on December 25, 2025, aligning with the Christmas holiday. While this date is widely speculated, an official confirmation from the filmmakers is still awaited and expected soon.
Change in release plansThis release plan marks a shift from earlier expectations, where Adivi Sesh’s other project, 'G2' the sequel to his popular spy thriller 'Goodachari' was anticipated to come out before 'Dacoit'. Final announcements regarding the release schedules of both films are expected by May 26.
'Dacoit' will also include filmmaker
Anurag Kashyap in the cast. Known primarily for his directorial ventures, Kashyap will be making his Telugu acting debut in this film, playing a mysterious and intriguing character.
Female lead replacementThe film's female lead underwent a significant change during production. Initially, Shruti Haasan was signed on to star opposite Adivi Sesh, and her involvement was publicly announced.
However, she later exited the project, reportedly due to creative differences with Adivi Sesh as per an India Today report. Reports suggest that Shruti felt uncomfortable with the actor’s deep involvement in the film's creative process, which led to her decision to step away.
Following Shruti’s departure, Mrunal Thakur was brought in as the new female lead. Her first look poster from Dacoit has also been released.
The story of Dacoit centers on two former lovers who reunite to carry out a series of daring robberies and heists.
Meanwhile, Adivi Sesh's other project, 'G2', is also shaping up with Wamiqa Gabbi replacing
Sobhita Dhulipala as the female lead. The movie stars Emraan Hashmi as the main antagonist.
