OROP, Balakot get Uttarakhand record 61,000 postal ballots
DEHRADUN: The State Election Commission has received 61,433 postal ballots as of May 18, the highest ever in the state and almost four times what it got during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Pauri Garhwal parliamentary constituency is leading with 23,694 postal ballots, followed by Almora at 19,565.
While some attributed the staggering rise in service votes to factors like the implementation of One Rank One Pension scheme and Balakot air strikes, a few said it was the fact that this time Electronically Transmitted Ballot Paper was used and the ballots were not sent manually which may have added to the ease of voting among service voters.
1x1 polls

According to EC records, the state has over 90,000 service voters. Tehri received highest number of votes from defence personnel (8,424), followed by Nainital (6,701).
