Good news for
dog parents! You will be soon able to add anti-aging pills to your furry baby's diet. It's no secret that pet parents, buy everything possible under the sun to keep their little friends healthy and happy. How about adding some anti-aging drugs to boost the longevity of your babies?
An anti-aging pill developed for
dogs has recently cleared a key Food and Drug Administration hurdle. The FDA certified the daily pill as having a “reasonable expectation of effectiveness” at extending senior dogs’ lifespans. The Center for Veterinary Medicine is yet to certify that the drug is safe.

The pill could soon enter the market. Once they are approved for manufacture, vets can prescribe the pill to dogs 10 years or older that weigh 14 pounds or more.
The anti-aging pill is developed by biotech startup Loyal, and they are expecting the process to be complete by the end of 2025.

Loyal’s CEO, Celine Halioua hopes that the drug will help pets to live longer and healthy.“If we can successfully delay the onset and severity of age-related diseases in dogs, it’s extremely compelling evidence that it will also do that in humans,” Halioua told the Washington Post. She also added that the company is hoping to keep the cost below $100 a month to encourage widespread use instead of “jacking up the price and getting the millionaire dogs on the drug.” The company is conducting clinical studies, with dogs receiving either genuine or placebo pills — both are beef flavored.

Talking to the New York Times earlier, Halioua stated that these are not immortality or radical life-span-extension drugs, but can certainly work on the aging effects. "Nothing we are developing could make a dog live forever," she added.

Looks like Lee Sung Jin's iconic speech while grabbing the Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series FOR 'Beef' really paid off. He wrapped up his winning speech by adding, “Lastly, everything I do is for my three dogs. The federal drug administration, if you please fast track that canine anti-aging pill that would be so lovely.”
