Birds are often thought of as sky-faring creatures who fly high and chirp with their beautiful voices. But in the wild, there are some birds that look very beautiful, but their sounds and calls do not match the melody we assume. Here we list some of them.

One of the most beautiful and colourful birds in the world, the Peacock is India’s national bird. And while the colours on it are stunning, and its call that sounds like ‘Mayur Mayur’ is a delight, it is more of a scream than a melody for some people.

Another beautiful bird with a not-so-melodious call is the Hornbill. It has a colourful beak, a unique cask, and different colours on its body, but its voice and call is more of loud grunts and croak noises.

Another bird with an adorable face but rather odd call is the Kookaburra. It has soft brown colours over the body, but its call sounds like a human who laughs rather oddly. And thus it could scare someone in the wild.

A tall and graceful bird that catches people’s eyes for its walk and long legs is the Great blue heron. And while it is beautiful to look at, its call is hated by many. Why? Because it lets out a hoarse, croaking squawk.
