“For more than a decade, Rogers has done an incredible job of converting what NHL hockey, our players, and our teams mean to hockey fans and their communities from coast to coast to coast.” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman shared in a statement with the NHL.com. The National Hockey League and Rogers Communications have extended their deal for another decade, only this time it is more than a decade, precisely 12 years. The deal comes with a whopping amount of US$7.7 billion (CAN$11 billion)!
On April 2, 2025, the official X account of the National Hockey League shared, “The @NHL and @Rogers announce monumental 12-year national media rights deal. Under the new agreement, fans in Canada will have access to more live national games than ever before and fewer regional blackouts.”

12 more years of experiencing best-in-class broadcasts of hockey, all thanks to Rogers Communications and the NHL’s continued commitment

“The NHL has been a terrific partner for over a decade, and we are proud to continue our partnership and bring more great fan experiences and best-in-class broadcasts to Canadians. Hockey is Canada’s game, and we are proud to be the home of hockey. Sports are core to our company, and these rights are the most valuable sports rights in Canada.” shared Tony Staffieri, President and CEO of Rogers, with the NHL.com media.

“We are thrilled to continue our landmark partnership for an additional 12 years. The NHL and Rogers have shared a commitment to best serving Canadian fans and the unmatched passion that they have for our game, and we are particularly excited that through this agreement, we will bring more live games to more fans across Canada.” continued NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman in his statement to the NHL.com media.

Who said gone are the days when TV was watched with family together?

If the National Hockey League and Rogers Communications continue camaraderie for another decade, then why can’t we still enjoy television? In a world where our thumbs help us swipe through news, games, matches, updated scores, and the latest updates, there’s this sweet little good old-fashioned television that gets all the undivided attention. When? When there’s a match! When there’s a live NHL game! No one can beat this. No other streaming mode. What TV does to a hungry-for-live-match soul! No one can beat that.
Thanks to the NHL and Rogers Communications’ agreement. This agreement came into existence back in 2013. When the deal was only US$4.9 billion and CAD$5.2 billion. And it was set for a dozen years, too. So, it was to expire after the 2025-2026 NHL season and guess what? The NHL and Rogers Communications extended it for another dozen years! This agreement stays strong till the 2037-2038 NHL season!
