Aaron Ekblad, one of the most popular and talented players in the NHL, has now found himself in a major controversy. Recently, the NHL and the Players' Association (NHLPA) banned Aaron Ekblad from the next 20 matches due to being tested for a “prohibited substance”. While Aaron Ekblad has issued a statement and apologised for his actions, fans are furious.

Aaron Ekblad’s suspension has caused an uproar among fans. Many fans are now calling out Aaron Ekblad’s team, the Florida Panthers, for “cheating”. A fan took to X and wrote, “Of course the Panthers are trying to cheat. They should be forced to trade Tkachuk to Buffalo”, while another fan wrote, Take away their cup. Not fair and cheated the league. Test bobrovsky too”.

A third fan wrote, “Funny how some athletes get crucified for PED use while others get a slap on the wrist. Where’s the consistency, NHL? Or do suspensions depend on the name on the jersey?”


Another user wrote, “Not enough. Should be for remainder of season and the playoffs”, while a fifth fan wrote, “Test the whole team!”

Currently, it has not been made public what Aaron Ekblad had consumed that reflected on his test. However, the star player has issued a statement for it, as released by the NHLPA. The statement read as, "When I learned that I had tested positive following a random screening, it was a shock.”


Aaron Ekblad also confessed to his actions and said, “I made the mistake of taking something (the specific substance has not been disclosed) to help with an injury without consulting the necessary medical authorities or team personnel."

Aaron Ekbald also apologised for his actions as his statement read as, "I have let down my teammates, the Panthers organization, and our fantastic supporters. For this, I am truly sorry. I take full responsibility for my error.”

After being selected in the 2014 NHL Draft, Aaron Ekblad has stayed with the Florida Panthers for more than a decade.

The Florida Panthers are all set to face the Boston Bruins in a few hours.
