Foreign players in the tournament are already planning to move out of the country and the Indian cricket board is considering an alternate window - by not holding an international tournament - to complete the IPL.
The BCCI announced Friday that the Indian Premier League has been suspended for a week amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. However, there is a possibility the tournament could be moved to Kolkata or abroad even as the Indian cricket board could lose out on insurance claims if the remaining matches are cancelled due to the conflict.
The decision to suspend the IPL followed a meeting of the IPL Governing Council of the BCCI, taken in consultation with the Indian government. As per the original schedule, there are 16 matches pending in the tournament.
