Exclusive - Jayati Bhatia on Heeramandi's success: All these years I've been loved for my television work but the sea of love I have received for this show has been humongous

Versatile actress Jayati Bhatia, who gained widespread recognition for her role in "Sasural Simar Ka," has been captivating audiences with her powerful performances across television, theatre, and web shows. She received accolades for her work in "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar," earning praise from both critics and audiences alike. Recently, in an exclusive chat with ETimes TV, the actress opened up about her career, the love she received for "Heeramandi," and more.
As an actor the industry has a lot to offer but do you think it helps more if one has a godfather?
I have never had a godfather in the industry and I have done well for myself by the grace of God. 28 years now it's my hard work, talent and people have recognised my efforts, the right people need to see the effort and have the vision to cast you for the right role.
If life gave you a chance to redo something what would that be and why?
Life has been really good. There may be a few personal and professional decisions I made in life which I may want to re-think, but I cannot take away from the fact that they have taught me a lot in life and I value it.
Heeramandi has got you so much love. How do you feel about it?
Heeramandi has been an eye opener. I have all these years been loved for my television work and the characters I portray but the sea of love I have received for this show has been humongous. Ever Grateful. I had a theater event in Bandra and everyone there came and congratulated me and wanted to tell me how they enjoyed the series and how they loved my character. This is so overwhelming.
If not an actor what would you have been?
I have always wanted to be a psychiatrist ever since I was a child but for many reasons I could not pursue it further. I love to listen to people's stories and their challenges and if there is any way I can be of help I would love to be there for them and offer some help. Given the limited source of income in my growing up days and a few other limitations I could not take it on but if not an actor I would have been a psychiatrist surely.
What next from your platter?
Lot is coming my way so I am hoping it is time for me to make an announcement real soon.
After having played such important characters on television that's left a mark, is it difficult to choose your next?
Not at all. I have been blessed with good work coming my way. Whatever comes to me I choose the best out of them. So it is now up to the people across platforms to see me in amazingly challenging roles and I am here to give my very best.
