TV stars go missing!
They dominated our TV screens and made our viewing experience memorable with their outstanding characters and performances. But after basking in the glory and fame, they seemed to have suddenly vanished! Just like that!
Here’s a look at some of those TV personalities:
Kanwaljit Singh
His claim to fame was the mega serial ‘Buniyaad’ where Kanwaljit played the role of an illegitimate child.
From there on, there was no looking back for this struggling actor who went on to do hit shows like ‘Saans’ which won him a ‘Kalakar Award’ for best actor. A versatile actor, Kanwaljit also starred in serials like ‘Andaz’, ‘Sabki Laadli Bebo’, ‘Bhabhi Maa’ and ‘Bajega Band Baaja’. He also dabbled in Punjabi films like ‘Mannat’, and ‘Dil Apna Punjabi’. He also played BIG B’sbrother in the hit Hindi film ‘Satte Pe Satta’. His filmography includes films like ‘MP3 – Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar’, ‘Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai’ , ‘Shankar Hussain’ and ‘Dastaan-e-Laila Majnu' which happened to be his debut film. He recently played Katrina’s father in ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’. We wonder if Kanwaljit will return to the small screen any time soon.
Neena Gupta
She is the acclaimed director and writer of the hit show ‘Saans’ which won her a ‘Kalakar Award’ for best director. Post the success of Saans, Neena Gupta became a household name. To her credit, she has acted in hit serials like ‘Mirza Ghalib’, ‘Dard’, ‘Rishtey’ and ‘Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin’. A mother, wife and talented TV and film actress, Neena Gupta has been much talked about in the media both for her professional choices and her personal life. Last seen in Zee TV’s ‘Dil Se Diya Vachan’ where she played the role of a doctor, Neena Gupta has been missing from television for a while now.

Anuj Saxena
An entrepreneur and doctor by profession, Anuj Saxena was lured by the limelight and made his TV debut with ‘Aasman Se Aagey’ followed by other shows like ‘Kora Kaagaz’, ‘Kshitij’ and ‘Karm’. But it was ‘Kkusum’ that made Anuj a hit actor in the TV industry. The popularity he experienced with ‘Kkusum’ remains unmatched till date in his career. He further went on to do shows like ‘Kumkum’, ‘Saara Aakash’ and ‘Rishton Ki Dor’. Like other fellow co-stars, Saxena too felt the need to turn his attention towards films. He made his foray into Bollywood with his debut film ‘Chase’ directed by Jag Mohan Mundhra.
Anuj further expanded his horizon by becoming a producer and launched his production house, Maverick Productions Private Limited. Very few know that Anuj participated in the final round of judging for the 2008 International Emmy Awards. After TV and Bollywood, what’s next for Anuj? Hollywood?
Nausheen Sardar Ali
A model and TV actor, Nausheen has acted in several Pakistani serials and has even done a music video for Altaf Raja. Nausheen Sardar Ali at one point became synonymous with the name ‘Kksumum’. Nausheen had gained so much popularity with Balaji’s ‘Kkusum’ that none of her other characters could ever match up to that popularity. Like her contemporaries. Nausheen dabbled in Bollywood and made her debut in a movie called ‘Three – Love, Lies and Betrayal’ which fared poorly with critics as well as audiences. But after her Bollywood debacle, Nausheen seems to have disappeared altogether from TV and films!
Urvashi Dholakia
She began her career at the age of six with a TV commercial and then moved on to Television. But it was her portrayal of the vamp Komolika in Star Plus’ Kay’ that got Urvashi Dholakia due recognition. From there on, Urvashi went on to do many TV serials including 'Mehndi Tere Naam Ki', 'Risshton Ki Dor' and 'Bayttaab Dil Kee Tamanna Hai'. She also did standup comedy for 'Ustaadon Ka Ustaad' and 'Comedy Circus 1'. Dholakia became notorious for her and for making candid confessions on the show.
Urvashi became a mother at the tender age of 16 and is notorious for her b-grade film ‘Chumban the Kiss’. She also participated as a contestant on ‘Sacch Ka Saamna’ where she made some pretty candid confessions. Few know that Urvashi has also acted in a Bhojpuri film which was produced by her mother. Last seen on NDTV Imagine’s ‘Meethi Chhoorii No 1’, Urvashi seems to have taken a long hiatus from the small screen.
Cezanne Khan
Named after the French painter Paul Cezanne, Cezanne Khan belongs to an illustrious family of musicians. His father is the legendary Pakistani sitarist Ustad Rais Khan and his brother Suhail Khan is a singer, composer and a sitar player. Cezanne Khan became a national craze with Balaji Telefilms'’Kasautii Zindagii Kay’ where he played the role of Anurag Basu. The show that ran for seven years made a star out of Cezzane not only in India but also in neighbouring Pakistan. Post Kasautii, he also did other TV serials like ‘Ek Ladki Anjaani Si’ and ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’ but none matched Kasautii's popularity. There were intense rumours of a rift between him and his ‘Kausautii’ co-star Shveta Tiwari which both rubbished. Then Cezanne disappeared from the small screen. He went on to act in Pakistani serials ‘Piya Ke Ghar Jaana Hai’ and ‘Silsilay Chahat Ke’. Wonder why Cezanne never attempted Bollywood. All in all, he’s sorely missed.
Most of these actors have tried to make an alternative career in films and whether they have been successful or not, does not matter. We just hope they make a comeback to television
