Actress Saiyami Kher opened up about the pressures surrounding physical appearances in showbiz, particularly for female actresses, and the severe social media trolls they face for altering their facial features and more.Saiyami on cosmetic surgeriesIn a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Saiyami addressed the widespread notion that female actors are particularly pressured to alter their appearance. She revealed that both female and male actors in the industry are going through such surgeries. “I feel if someone is not comfortable and happy with the way he or she looks, and they are okay with doing things [to change that], by all means, you should do it if that’s going to make you feel like a better, happier person. But you can’t get so affected by what the world thinks—that’s my opinion. Because you can’t… some people told me I needed to get alip job done because my lips weren’t full enough. They said I should get a nose job too,” she revealed.Despite external opinions, Saiyami has remained secure in her natural appearance. She is comfortable with the way her lips are and she considers it unique. "Otherwise, everyone will end up looking like a factory-made product, " she added.
According to her, the way a person is already made is authentic. The ‘Ghoomer’ actress feels that an actor would not be judged for their lips or anything else but only for the performance. The actress wants people to not alter anything about themselves due to insecurity.Social media trolls against actorsShe further weighed in on the rising negativity on social media, especially directed at people who have undergone cosmetic procedures. “I would never do it, because like I said, I’m very secure. I’m someone who believes in letting everything be natural, to the extent that I won’t even take medicine unless there’s a real need for it. I like to keep things as natural as I can. I’m someone who always promotes being happy with who you are, finding security and comfort in yourself. But if there’s somebody who feels otherwise, and that person feels they’ll be more confident doing something [like a procedure], then by all means—it’s your life. I’m nobody to judge.”Saiyami Kher criticised the growing trend of harsh online judgements, stating that social media has given people unchecked freedom to comment insensitively on others. She pointed out that often those making such remarks are not in a position to judge and emphasised that this behaviour has become normalised, which she finds unfair and insensitive.
She praised Ananya Panday for spreading positivity through social media. She expressed hope that more people would use their influence to promote uplifting stories and positive change.
