Stephon Castle's stellar performance propels Spurs to back-to-back rookie of the year honors
Picked fourth by the San Antonio Spurs, Stephon Castle had an incredible rookie year. With 1,190 points and 74 steals, averaging 14.7 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.7 rebounds over 81 games, he lead all rookies. With averages of 22.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per 36 minutes in the last 30 games, his outstanding season end highlighted his brilliance and adaptability. Along with winning Rookie of the Year, this feat made the Spurs the first team in NBA history to win back-to--back Rookie of the Year honours without having consecutive No.1 choices.
Zaccharie Risacher, picked first overall by the
Atlanta Hawks, really made waves in his first season. He ended up second in the Rookie of the Year race, and his steady play got him onto the All-Rookie First Team. His knack for fitting in and making a difference for the Hawks highlights just how talented the 2024 draft class is.
The 7'4" Memphis Grizzlies' centre, Zach Edey, made an important impact on the court. Starting in 55 out of 66 games, his first season averaged 9.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. Having a 58% field goal percentage and 71% from the free-throw line, his shooting was really outstanding. Edey's exceptional performance not only guaranteed him a spot on the All-Rookie First Team but also highlighted the Grizzlies' wise selecting of their draft.
