Why Elon Musk ‘flagged’ Kamala Harris’ post on abortion ban in the US
Tesla CEO Elon Musk slammed an X (formerly Twitter) post of US Vice President Kamala Harris on Donald Trump’s stance on abortion law in the US. This comes as the presidential debate intensifies between the sitting president Joe Biden and Republican rival Donald Trump. The next US election is scheduled for November this year.
In an X post recently, Harris wrote “Donald Trump would ban abortion nationwide.
President @JoeBiden and I will do everything in our power to stop him and restore women's reproductive freedom.” The post was flagged by X’s Community Notes - the platform’s fact checking like tool.
“President Trump has repeatedly said he will not sign a national abortion ban,” the community notes stated in her post. It also provided supporting links to articles to corroborate the fact.

What is Community Notes feature on X?

As per an X help page, Community Notes aim to create a better informed world by empowering people on X to collaboratively add context to potentially misleading posts. Contributors can leave notes on any post and if enough contributors from different points of view rate that note as helpful, the note will be publicly shown on a post.
Community Notes are currently visible to everyone. The help page states that Community Notes do not represent X’s viewpoint and cannot be edited or modified by its teams.
