Six women, 5-year-old boy rescued from Agra brothel

Police also apprehended two women, who were running the brothel along with two customers on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Usha Chauhan, counselor of the NGO, "The rescued women were first being exploited in metro cities like Mumbai and Delhi for many years, and later when they grow old and their demand went down they were sent to smaller cities like Agra."
"We had received an input from our sources, that women of Maharashtra, Bengal and other parts of Uttar Pradesh are been kept in brothel located in Chatta area of Agra.

When we conducted an raid with local police, we managed to extract six women along with five year-old boy who belongs to one of the woman, who was forced in prostitution business."
Speaking to TOI, circle officer of Chatta Bijendra Singh Tyagi said, "We have arrested Mala of Kolkata and Poonam of Agra for running a brothel in the city and two coustmers Sanjau Begh and Rajendar Singh. All the four have been booked under IPC section, 294 (Obscene acts)."
"While the rescued girls will be sent to either government run women's rehabilitation cell or the shelter homes run by New Delhi based Rescue Foundation, NGO," he added.
Last year, nearly 22 women were rescued with the help of NGO in Agra.
