Kullu: Light to moderate rain was recorded at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. Both maximum and minimum temperatures remained below normal, providing relief from the hot weather, especially in low hills.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, Sirmaur recorded the highest rainfall of 23.4mm, followed by 4.2mm in Solan, 2.9mm in Hamirpur, 1.7mm in Shimla, 1.1mm in Lahaul Spiti, and 1mm in Chamba. The state received an average of 16.2mm rain from May 1 to 6, which is 16% higher than the normal 13.9mm.
Isolated but continuous rainfall over the past few days kept the mercury below normal in the state. Una recorded the highest maximum temperature of 34.6°C, while Keylong recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 4.1°C on Tuesday.
Among tourist destinations, Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 21°C, Dharamshala 28°C, Manali 20°C, Dalhousie 19°C, and Kasauli 23.2°C. It may be mentioned that the weather department predicted light to moderate rains accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in isolated parts of the state until May 10.
