NEW DELHI: Jasbir Singh, arrested in a Pakistan-backed espionage case, attempted to delete all traces of his communication with key Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) in the network soon after the arrest of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, Punjab Police said.“After Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest, Jasbir attempted to erase all traces of his communications with these PIOs to avoid detection,” said the Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab Police.Read also: Who is YouTuber Jasbir Singh? Singh, a resident of Mahlan village in Rupnagar, was arrested by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) in Mohali. He ran a YouTube channel named ‘Jaan Mahal’ and is believed to have maintained close contact with several Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) suspected of operating under the influence of Pakistani handlers.Among them are Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, previously arrested on espionage charges, and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a Pakistani national who was expelled from the Pakistani High Commission in India.Jasbir Singh was reportedly invited by Danish to the Pakistan National Day event held in Delhi, where he interacted with Pakistani Army officials and vloggers, according to the DGP, Punjab Police.Also read: 'Had close links with Jyoti Malhotra': After Malhotra, another YouTuber Jasbir Singh arrested in Pakistan-backed espionage caseHe is also reported to have travelled to Pakistan on three separate occasions — in 2020, 2021, and 2024.
His seized electronic devices contained multiple Pakistan-based contact numbers, which are currently undergoing forensic analysis, said the DGP.He was also in touch with another PIO, Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa, who is believed to be a crucial link in the terror-backed intelligence network.An FIR has been registered at SSOC, Mohali. A comprehensive investigation is underway to trace the full extent of the espionage network and identify more collaborators, said the DGP, Punjab Police.“Punjab Police remains firmly committed to safeguarding national security and will not allow anti-national elements to thrive on our soil,” the DGP asserted.
