TV serial actor arrested for sexually assaulting minor boy in Chennai
CHENNAI: A television actor was arrested in Chennai for offences punishable under the Pocso Act for having sexually abused a juvenile boy, after displaying a few photographs of himself with leading actors.
Police said the boy, aged 14, studying in Class IX at a city school, went to a park in Alapakkam on Sunday. While he was playing there, Hari, 21, of Alapakkam approached him and claimed to be an actor in a television serial. He showed the boy a few selfies taken with popular actors and actresses.
He lured the boy to a secluded place, where he seduced and sexually assaulted him, promising to show more videos and photographs. The boy panicked and informed his parents after returning home.
Based on the complaint filed by the boy’s father, the Maduravoyal police registered a case. The team reviewed the CCTV camera footage and tracked the suspect. The cops traced Hari, who told police during inquiries that he had acted in a few television serials. The police team is probing if Hari had a criminal antecedent.
The all-women police registered a Pocso Act case and arrested Hari. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
