27-year-old drowns trying to rescue another in St Inez

Panaji: A 27-year-old Santa Cruz resident lost his life while trying to save another man from drowning at a pond in St Inez on Friday. Saivaibhav Vaigankar, along with a friend, visited the pond. A group of people were already swimming in the pond when, suddenly, one of them began to drown.Police said that upon seeing the person drowning, Vaigankar jumped into the pond to save him. However, while attempting to save the man, Vaigankar started drowning.Police reported that when both were on the verge of drowning, a third person jumped into the water to save them.By the time he saved the first person, Vaigankar had already drowned. Locals called an ambulance and shifted both of them to the GMC, where Vaigankar was declared dead on arrival.
