22 bags of 'Annabhagya' scheme rice seized in Karnataka

Byndoor police acted on a tip regarding illegal storage of Annabhagya rice. Food Inspector Vinay Kumar received information about Majid's activities. Majid stored rice in Nagaraj's building at Murgolhaklu in Bijoor village. Police raided the location and seized 22 bags of rice. The rice weighed 11 quintals and was worth Rs 37,400.

MANGALURU: The Byndoor police seized 22 bags of rice meant to be distributed under the Annabhagya scheme. In a complaint, Vinay Kumar, Food Inspector of Byndoor Taluk, received information that Majid illegally stored rice meant for the Anna Bhagya scheme in a building belonging to Nagaraj at Murgolhaklu in Bijoor village.Based on this tip-off, a raid was conducted on Sunday. During the raid, it was found that the accused, Majid, unlawfully procured rice meant for the govt’s Anna Bhagya scheme with the intent to sell it at a higher price.A total of 22 bags of rice, weighing 11 quintals and worth approximately Rs 37,400, were seized. A case was registered at the Byndoor Police Station under Sections 3, 6, and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act.
