Mysuru: Theatre teaches not only acting and language but also life, said film director and writer
Yogaraj Bhat on Friday. Theatre teaches lessons that schools often do not, Bhat said after inaugurating a summer camp organised by theatre activist Mandya Ramesh-led Natana. Those who were part of theatre went on to hold prestigious positions in various fields of society. "Theatre instils discipline," he said.
"When we were young, there were no such camps. As soon as summer holidays began, we would head to our grandparents' house and make the most of the vacation. The love and affection shown by our grandparents back then is rarely seen today," he recollected. "Today's children have mobile phones while the consumption of junk food has increased, leading even young children to face health issues. Therefore, theatre should be used as a medium to educate children about the importance of health," he said.
Senior theatre artists Radha and Rukmini were honoured with the Natana Puraskara Award for the year 2025.
