Pondicherry University registrar interview postponed again

Pondicherry University registrar interview postponed again
PUDUCHERRY: The interview to recruit the registrar of Pondicherry University, scheduled for Nov 15, has been postponed yet again due to 'administrative exigencies.'
In a circular, the university assistant registrar (recruitment cell) stated that the date of the interview would be intimated later.
It may be recalled that the interview for the registrar post, which was scheduled for Oct 28 and 30 last year, was cancelled. Several forums, including the teaching and non-teaching associations, objected to the university's move to hold recruitment to select candidates for the posts of registrar, director (studies), director (culture), and finance officer when the university does not have a full-time vice-chancellor.
The association representatives pointed out that the Union govt had categorically stated that the in-charge vice-chancellor should refrain from taking any policy decisions, including recruitment. They charged that the present vice-chancellor (in-charge) ignored the direction of the Union govt and other competent authorities and had issued notifications for the recruitment of statutory posts like registrar, director and finance officer.
The forums have taken a legal route to prevent the in-charge vice-chancellor from making any policy decisions and recruiting candidates for vital posts. They havebeen urging the Centre to appoint a full-time vice-chancellor at the earliest so that the recruitment of candidates for vital posts is set in motion.
