Thiruvananthapuram: The state human rights commission (SHRC) chairperson Justice Alexander Thomas has directed medical college hospital (MCH) authorities to resolve the alleged issue between the department of radio diagnosis and the department of neurology be resolved soon. Measures should be taken to conduct 60 scans per day as previously done, the SHRC directed.The commission stated that the actions taken must be submitted to the commission by the director of medical education within three weeks. SHRC further stated that additional chief secretary of the health department should also intervene and submit a report within three weeks. The medical college hospital superintendent was also directed to provide a report.Justice Thomas said in the order that representatives of the health secretary, director of medical education and medical college hospital superintendent must be present to explain the current situation at the MCH at the commission's sitting next month.The commission initiated the case based on media reports alleging that despite resolving the conflict between the radio diagnosis and neurology departments, fewer than 10 CT scans were being conducted per day. There were complaints that patients have to wait for months to get scanning done.
