Malvika failed to capitalise after winning the first game against eighth seed Supanida Katethong of Thailand and lost 21-14, 18-21, 11-21. Anmol played well against world No. 5 Chen Yu Fei of China. In fact, Anmol led 17-14 and 20-18 in the second before the former Olympic champion used her experience to get past the 18-year-old.

World No. 34 Prannoy was cruising at 17-11 in the first game before Gemke stunned the Indian with an unexpected comeback. Gemke made it 14-17 and from 15-18 he moved to 20-18 in the first. However, Prannoy dominated the Dane in the next two games. He will next face Christo Popov of France, who knocked out third seed Anders Antonsen of Denmark 21-17, 21-13.
