PATNA: The city traffic police have made an elaborate arrangement for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Patna on May 29, during which he is scheduled to launch projects worth Rs 50,000 crore and hold a roadshow. Blockades have been put up on different routes leading to Patna airport, while an advisory has been issued for the convenience of commuters.
The roadshow will start from Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport, and conclude at the BJP office at Beerchand Patel Path, via Dumra Chowki on Nehru Path, IPS Mess More, Hartali More, Patna High Court and Income Tax Golambar. Traffic restrictions (except for emergency services, patients' and pass-holders' vehicles and those related to judicial work) on the main route and surrounding areas of the roadshow will be effective from 4pm to 8pm or until the end of the programme on May 29.
Patna traffic superintendent of police Aprajit Lohan said on Tuesday that only those vehicles with a valid flight ticket will be allowed to enter the airport. "After showing the ticket, one can go to Patna airport via Patel Golambar. No vehicles will be allowed from Dumra town outpost towards the airport. If any passenger needs to go to the airport urgently during the roadshow, they can reach the District Transport Office (DTO) or Patel Golambar.
From there, they will be helped to reach the airport by Patna traffic police after checking their valid tickets," he said, requesting passengers to reach the airport at least three hours in advance on May 29.
The movement of all types of vehicles from the DTO towards the airport will be banned. Vehicles coming from the south of the DTO will be able to go towards their destination via Tamtam Padav and Phulwarisharif. All types of vehicles coming from the north of the DTO will reach their destination via Jagdeo Path.
Similarly, the movement of all types of vehicles coming from Saguna Mor/Danapur towards east Hartali Mor will be banned at Raja Bazaar road overbridge (RoB). The vehicles will have to reach their destination via Jagdeo Path, DTO, Tamtam Padav and Phulwarisharif in the south. All types of vehicles coming from Saguna More/Danapur towards east on Bailey Road (Nehru Path) will be able to go towards their destination via Ashiana-Digha Road to Digha-Kurji-Rajapur Pul and Ashoka Rajpath.
On Bailey Road, the movement of all types of vehicles will be prohibited on both the flanks from Dumra town outpost to east I-T Golambar. Vehicles going towards the west from Dak Bungalow crossing will be able to reach their destination via Buddha Marg, Police Line Tiraha, Rajapur Bridge, and Ashok Raj Path in the north. On the other hand, vehicles going towards the west from Dak Bungalow on Bailey Road (Nehru Path) can go south towards Kotwali, GPO RoB (up), R-Block ROB (up), Gardnibagh ROB (up) and Anisabad Golambar.
On Beerchand Patel Path, the movement of all types of vehicles will be prohibited on both flanks from R-Block Golambar (below) and I-T roundabout. Vehicles going towards west from Kankarbagh-Patna Junction will have to take GPO RoB (up), R-Block RoB (up), Gardanibagh RoB (up) and Anisabad Golambar for their respective destinations.
On May 30, traffic restrictions will be enforced from Raj Bhawan to Patna airport, between 9am and 10.05am. Air passengers should reach airport an hour in advance. They will have to go to the airport via Patel Golambar and Dumra town outpost. No vehicle will be allowed from Patel Golambar to the west of Peer Ali Marg towards the airport, and from Peer Ali Marg towards the east from Veterinary College.
