BENGALURU: Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw left her luxury wheels behind on Tuesday to board the
Namma Metro Purple Line.
The ride, which she took from Whitefield to Vidhana Soudha, was part of her attempt to sidestep the city's infamous traffic snarls—and it seems to have worked.
In a post on social media platform X, Shaw described the journey as a “great ride” and gave a shout-out to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) for the smooth experience. Accompanying her on the trip was Jennifer Erich, who she fondly referred to as her “Namma Metro friend” and the “Iron Lady at Exxon Mobil.”

“Took the Purple Line from Whitefield to Vidhana with my Namma Metro friend @jennifer_erich, the Iron Lady of Exxon Mobil. Such a quick way to avoid traffic. Great ride. Thanks @OfficialBMRCL,” Shaw posted.
‘So happy to be your Metro Mentor’
Erich replied: “So happy to be your Metro Mentor!! Thanks so much for joining me at my office today.”
The post quickly caught the attention of netizens, with many praising Shaw for leading by example. "Great! A society’s progress is measured when the Elite and powerful Like you take public transport for travel. Really commendable and exemplary" wrote one user.
Another added,“A developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It's where the rich use public transportation.- Gustavo Petro”
