Fortnite players are gearing up for another superhero landing, this time featuring the Man of Steel himself. Ahead of the July 2025 release of James Gunn’s Superman reboot, leaks suggest that Epic Games is preparing a major in-game collaboration featuring a brand-new Superman skin and a powerful Mythic ability.
Skin inspired by James Gunn's Superman film
Popular Fortnite leakers @ShiinaBR and @FNBRintel revealed on May 3 that Epic Games is planning to release a new Superman skin inspired directly by the upcoming DCU film. Unlike the 2021 version, which featured classic and black suit variants, this new skin will reflect Clark Kent’s updated costume from the James Gunn-directed movie - complete with modern textures and fresh design elements.
The skin is expected to arrive just before or alongside the film’s release on July 11, 2025, potentially between July 6 and July 10, aligning with Fortnite’s past movie crossover timelines.
Mythic Superman ability leaked
Beyond the cosmetics, the real game-changer could be the new Superman Mythic Ability, rumored to temporarily transform players into the superhero himself. Details are still under wraps, but speculation suggests the ability may unlock powers such as flight, superhuman strength, or even heat vision.
If true, this could dramatically impact gameplay - especially in casual modes. While Epic may restrict it in competitive tournaments, the power-packed Mythic could become a fan-favorite in standard Battle Royale lobbies.
Will more DC heroes join the roster?
The new Superman movie introduces several other iconic DC heroes including Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, and Mr. Terrific - all making their first appearance in the rebooted cinematic universe. As of now, no skins for these characters have been confirmed, but Fortnite has a history of expanding collaborations over time.
If the movie performs well, Epic may bring these characters into the game through future bundles or limited-time events.
The timing of this collaboration highlights a strategic push by Warner Bros. Discovery to expand DC’s footprint in live-service games. Following the end of support for MultiVersus, Fortnite appears to be a key platform for new DC content rollouts.
For Fortnite, it’s a smart play - the Superman skin is likely to attract both superhero fans and long-time players, driving up user engagement and shop sales.
As fans await official confirmation, one thing’s clear - Superman’s return to Fortnite could be one of the most powerful crossovers yet.
