Lucas Vazquez will bid adieu to Real Madrid in July after the FIFA Club World Cup, following the expiration of his contract. This has been reported by the famous sports journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Spanish right-back, who will turn 34 on July 1, will only receive a measly short-term extension that covers the tournament period before leaving the club.

Real Madrid has opted not to renew the veteran defender's contract

Reports confirm that Real Madrid has made a determination not to propose to Vazquez a new contract outside of the temporary two-week extension, which will see him stay until July 13, 2025. The purpose of this extension is to allow him to take part in the FIFA Club World Cup that takes place from June 14 to July 13 in the United States.

A remarkable career was marked by Champions League glory

Lucas Vazquez has been super loyal to Real Madrid throughout his years, where he has contributed immensely in the defense position. The Galician defender has managed to earn an astonishing collection of domestic and international silverware during his active years at Bernabeu, which include five Champions League titles, four LaLiga championships, three FIFA Club World Cups, and four UEFA Super Cups.
Initially shifted from a forward to a right-back, Vazquez stepped up during Dani Carvajal's absence in October. Still, his performances this season have reportedly been below par in high-stakes encounters.

Future plans include the Club World Cup farewell

Vazquez's timing with the club coincides with Real Madrid's alleged pursuit of Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool. With Carvajal also presumed to return from injury next season, competition for the right-back role would be steeper.Real Madrid has plans to give Vazquez a proper send-off after his final appearance with the club. That marks the end of an era for one of the club's most loyal servants, who went through the most successful phases of Real Madrid history. While still an active player, the retired fans will have one last chance to see him wear the dress of Los Blancos in the enlarged 32-team format FIFA Club World Cup before he seeks to open new doors for a lazier advancement for the club. Also Read: Barcelona Makes History with Four El Clasico Wins Over Real Madrid
