With Los Angeles Dodgers’ legendary pitcher Clayton Kershaw back in the clubhouse, the sudden exit of his dear friend and fellow team member has disappointed him. Recently, the Dodgers DFA’d the 35-year-old catcher only to make some space for Dalton Rushing. The young baseball star made his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers during their recent face-off with the Oakland Athletics. During a recent interview, Clayton Kershaw poured his heart out while talking about his dear friend Austin Barnes.

During a recent interview with the Dodgers Nation, Clayton Kershaw spoke about many aspects of his baseball career, retirement, and his mindset for the 2025 MLB season. While talking about his much-awaited comeback, Kershaw opened up on the recent move by the Los Angeles Dodgers with respect to Austin Barnes. On being asked about his take on Barnes being DFA’d by the Dodgers, Kershaw instantly said- "I think everybody was surprised. It's sad. Barnesy's one of my best friends on or off the field. You won't find a guy that competes better than Austin Barnes. He wants to win more than anybody, and he always found a way, and he came up with some big moments for us throughout the years.”

While talking about the innumerable contributions made by the talented catcher, Clayton Kershaw pointed out"I think a lot of people forget he was starting a lot of playoff games and winning a lot of games for us, getting big knocks.”The Dodgers’ pitching star even turned emotional and poured his heart out as well as expressed his disappointment with the move. He further elaborated- "It's sad to see someone like that go who's been here that long, and I think we all kind of feel it. It's no disrespect to Dalton. I know he deserves it, and he's going to be a great player. It's just for me, personally. I think for a lot of guys on the team, it was disappointing to see him go."Despite sharing a great camaraderie on the field, both Clayton Kershaw and Austin Barnes share a beautiful bond beyond MLB too. Barnes had been one of the longest-serving Dodgers stars as well as a personal catcher to Kershaw. The three Cy Young Award recipient has always preferred Austin Barnes behind the plate.
