6 new Punjab cops test positive for drugs at training centre

Six newly recruited Punjab Police constables were dismissed from their basic training at PRTC Jahan Khelan in Hoshiarpur after failing drug tests. Their suspicious behavior prompted the drug tests, which were conducted at Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur. The constables were subsequently sent back to their respective police districts in Patiala, Tarn Taran, and Ludhiana.

CHANDIGARH: Six constables who were recruited recently into Punjab Police were removed from basic training at Police Recruits Training Centre (PRTC) Jahan Khelan in Hoshiarpur district after they tested positive for drugs. They were sent back to the police districts/commissionerates they were to join after completing the course. Three of them were sent back to Patiala, two to Tarn Taran, and one to Ludhiana.They underwent drug tests after their conduct suggested they were addicted, according to the communication sent to police chiefs of Patiala, Tarn Taran, and Ludhiana by PRTC Jahan Khelan. The constables were then subjected to drug tests at Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur. The report sent by theHoshiarpur civil surgeon on May 21 to PRTC Jahan Khelan confirmed that the six had tested positive for drugs.
