"As many as 75 companies from the manufacturing sector, IT, banking, finance, and healthcare participated in the job fair," said S R Rajavarshan, CEO of Asgardia Foundation. Asgardia Foundation and NSE Academy, who are training partners of the Naan Mudhalvan scheme, jointly organised the job fair for arts and science students skilled under this scheme.
Students were hired for various job roles such as trainee engineer (quality and production), technical support, and process associate.
E Yabez from Presidency College got an offer from Nokia with a 2.5 lakh annual pay package. "I completed BCom and am studying Tally now.
I got selected for a manufacturing job," he said.
Raghav from Thiruthangal Nadar College was shortlisted for an accountancy-related job role. "I was told that there will be further rounds of interviews," he said.
Due to a huge number of students turning up for the fair, many companies told the candidates to submit their resumes, and that they would be called for interviews later.
The students said some companies were also hiring for call centre jobs, which many were not keen to take up.
