Weather Today Live Updates: IMD issues rain alerts as pre-monsoon showers hit Delhi, Kolkata, Goa & other cities

The weather across the region is showing clear signs of seasonal transition. Kolkata is likely to see its first pre-monsoon rains by midweek, triggered by a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, with scattered rainfall expected to keep the heat in check. In contrast, Bengaluru is experiencing strengthening westerly winds, indicating the monsoon’s approach, but heavy rain is expected only in coastal Karnataka and the Western Ghats. Gujarat remains hot, with Ahmedabad recording temperatures over 40°C; however, a brewing Arabian Sea system may bring rain relief soon. Delhi saw temperatures drop sharply after a thunderstorm and now expects more rain with improved air quality. Meanwhile, Bhopal had a sudden shift in weather with strong winds, rain, and falling temperatures, and warnings have been issued for thunderstorms and heatwaves in various Madhya Pradesh districts and Goa records heavy rains with an orange alert for more. Monsoon activity is gradually increasing over the seas. These developments mark the early signs of monsoon activity spreading across southern and central regions.
