Woman sells fake gold biscuits to Dewas man for Rs 2.5L, booked for fraud
Ujjain: A woman allegedly duped a man from Dewas by selling him fake gold biscuits for Rs 2.5 lakh.Chintaman Ganesh police station in-charge, Hemraj Yadav, said that Rakesh Verma, a resident of Awas Nagar in Dewas, reported on Tuesday that on May 27, a woman named Sangeeta called him near Chintaman Bridge, promising gold biscuits. She gave him biscuits from her bag and took Rs 2.5 lakh. Upon reaching Dewas, he examined the biscuits with a jeweller, who confirmed that they were fake.Yadav said that a case under Section 318 (4) was registered and an investigation has begun. A search for the woman has been initiated based on her description and the police are scanning the CCTV footage to nab her.Verma told the police that he runs a hair salon. Twenty days ago, a woman selling Rudraksha came in front of his shop and mentioned having gold biscuits to sell at a low price. She asked him to come to Ujjain on May 27. When he reached near the Chintaman Bridge, Sangeeta took him to a spot near a drain and handed him biscuits from her bag that looked like gold.
