NEW DELHI: Police discovered two suspected
steel bombs on Tuesday from private property in
Muliyathode near
Panur in north
Kerala district.
The location was the same site where an explosion occurred last year during the production of
homemade explosives, resulting in one fatality and one severe injury.
A Panur police station official stated that the landowner alerted them about the potential explosives in the morning, prompting immediate deployment of the
bomb squad to the location.
The property owner explained that his brother spotted the suspected bombs whilst harvesting coconuts and clearing the land with workers.
"He immediately informed the police," the landowner told a TV channel.
Television footage showed bomb disposal experts collecting two small steel containers, placing them in a sand-filled bucket before transporting them for examination.
According to police officials, both bomb and canine units have been assigned to the area to conduct searches for additional explosive devices.
