A decade on, Noida expressway condos in Sector 143 still lack basic civic amenities

Residents of Sector 143, Noida, are grappling with a lack of basic civic amenities despite occupancy beginning in 2015. NOIDA: Despite occupancy starting in 2015, apartments in Sector 143, along the Noida Expressway, continue to lack basic civic infrastructure. Residents of Victory Crossroads, Aakriti Shantiniketan, Gulshan Ikebana, Sikka Karnam Greens, and Sikka Kaamna still lack essential facilities like drains, sewers, and parks. An incomplete drainage system near Victory Crossroads poses particular concern, with sewage overflowing and affecting over 1,000 residents after a spell of rain. “I am one of the earliest residents of Sector 143. I moved to the Victory Crossroads complex in 2015, which now has 291 units and 10 shops. Over 1,000 residents now live in the complex. But we still lack a proper drain, road connectivity, functional sewers, parks, and a market. On top of that, the water supplied from the Noida Authority has a TDS of 1500. Sometimes it goes beyond 2000,” said Anupam Kumar Singh, a resident of the condo.

Do you think social media can effectively pressure authorities to resolve infrastructure issues?
Singh said it was only this year that the drain construction work began near his society. “Only about 150 to 200 metres of it has been built so far, as the end is blocked. Every time it rains, water fills the drain and overflows onto the road, remaining stagnant for days after due to a lack of proper sewers and drainage in the area.
I’ve made several complaints to the Noida Authority CEO on the matter and posted it on social media. But there’s no redress so far. Now the met department has predicted monsoon hitting UP by June 5 to 6. I fear we will face the same problem of waterlogging due to the incomplete work around the drain,” said Singh.Puja Singh, another resident of Victory Crossroads, said the drain water becomes a breeding site for mosquitoes.Following residents’ complaints, staff from the Noida Authority visited the area earlier this week, but there’s no movement on pending works so far.
