‘The Morning Show’ returns with explosive season 4, star power, and high-stakes twists
The Emmy-winning newsroom drama, fronted by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, is set to make a splash this fall with a 10-episode fourth season, kicking off with a premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 17, followed by new episodes every Friday through Nov. 19.Jumping ahead nearly two years after the Season 3 cliffhanger, the new chapter picks up in a politically and technologically volatile 2024. The high-powered world of broadcast journalism is reeling from the now-finalized UBA-NBN merger, and the stakes have never been higher. A newly released logline teases a world entangled in deepfakes, conspiracy theories, and corporate deceit, challenging every character to question: what is truth, and who can you trust? The series continues to expand its powerhouse ensemble. Joining Aniston and Witherspoon are acclaimed stars Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Aaron Pierre, Boyd Holbrook, and William Jackson Harper. Fan favorites Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Greta Lee, Nicole Beharie, and yes—Jon Hamm—are back in the mix.Season 3 left audiences reeling with a game-changing finale: Alex Levy (Aniston) ousted her tech mogul love interest Paul Marks (Hamm) and emerged as a key player in reshaping the network. “We reenter the world mid-chaos,” Aniston teased in a past interview. “Alex might be stronger than she thinks… but it could expose her deepest vulnerabilities.”Meanwhile, Bradley Jackson (Witherspoon) was last seen walking into the unknown—facing a possible felony charge after covering up her brother’s role in the Jan.
6 Capitol attack. With her resignation looming and her moral compass tested, Witherspoon said the moment captured the essence of her character’s arc: “There really was no way out but the truth.”Notably absent from Season 4 is Julianna Margulies' Laura Peterson, Bradley’s former flame. But executive producer and showrunner Charlotte Stoudt promises the core tension between Alex and Bradley remains the heart of the series. “They’re together, but not together. That’s the contradiction,” she said. “There’s accountability, but it’s not bleak.”Behind the scenes, the Media Res-produced drama continues under the direction of Mimi Leder and executive production from Stoudt, Michael Ellenberg, Lindsey Springer, Lauren Neustadter, Kristin Hahn, Zander Lehmann, Micah Schraft, and of course, Aniston and Witherspoon.
With a timely new setting, a starry cast, and real-world resonance, Season 4 of The Morning Show looks poised to spark conversation—and maybe a few newsroom fireworks.
