South Korean agency Fantagio announced that it would be taking strong
legal action against individuals engaging in malicious slander and defamation targeting actor Kim Seon Ho, on May 30 KST. The agency cited "consistent cases of malicious slander, indiscriminate personal attacks, and defamation" across various social media platforms and online communities as the reason for its decisive move.
Firm stance against online attacks
Acknowledging the severe impact of such unwarranted attacks on their artist, Fantagio stated, "Acknowledging the severity of such attacks, we have decided to respond with strict legal action against any activities which infringe on the rights of our artist." The label emphasized its continuous efforts to monitor online content, actively gathering evidence of "slander, insults, and defamation." The agency reiterated its commitment to protecting Kim Seon Ho's rights, issuing a firm warning: "Once again, we emphasize that any such activities infringing on the rights of our artist will be met with strict legal measures." This move underscores a growing trend in the Korean entertainment industry to combat online harassment and protect artists' reputations, that often end up taking a huge toll on them.
