The Colorado Rockies have fired their head manager, Bud Black, amidst poor performance in the ongoing season. The decision came as a shock for many, as many had not expected the management to make such a decision. However, one of the most shocking responses came from the Dodgers' manager, Dave Roberts. What was his reaction? Here are the details.

Dave Roberts’ take on the Rockies' firing Bud Black

The Rockies have been going with a 7-33 this season, which is not a good look for any MLB team. However, the management decided to make their head coach, Bud Black, take the heat and fired him. When the Dodgers’ manager, Dave Roberts, was asked about his opinion on this situation, he said,“I don’t think Casey Stengel could change the outcome of that ballclub. That’s not the manager’s fault.”
Roberts clearly mentioned that it was not the coach's fault but the players’ and management’s fault, and not even legendary manager Casey Stengel could have helped in this case. While some fans are calling him out for being blunt, others are supporting his brutally honest statements. One fan went on to support Roberts’ statement and said,“I don’t think Bud Black was bad. It’s the ownership and the GM that should be blamed.”
Whether Roberts was right in making such comments on the Rockies management was wise or not is still up for debate. For now, the question is whether the replacement of Bud Black will be able to bring some changes to the team or not.

Rockies appoint Bud Black’s replacement coaches

The Colorado Rockies made it clear that Bud Black, despite being with the team for eight years, won’t be continuing with them for the rest of the season. To replace him, the Rockies have called upon Warren Schaeffer and Clint Hurdle to take up the responsibility of interim manager and bench coach, respectively.
Clint Hurdle is one of the most well-known coaches in the MLB. Under his guidance, the San Francisco Giants won three World Champion series. Moreover, he has also coached the Pittsburgh Pirates and helped them make three postseason appearances during his tenure.
Hurdle was previously with the Rockies in 2007, when the Rockies were able to make their first and only World Series appearance. Will Hurdle be able to bring that magic back to the table? Well, that still remains to be seen. Also Read: Colorado Rockies fires manager Bud Black after a humiliating defeat this season, Warren Schaeffer takes over as interim manager
