Mumbai road rage: Car driver stabbed to death near traffic chowky

In Ghatkopar, Mumbai, a 35-year-old used car trader, Zeeshan Shaikh, was fatally stabbed following a roadside argument with a scooterist on the Eastern Express Highway. The altercation escalated when the scooterist, accompanied by a woman, retrieved a knife and attacked Shaikh.

MUMBAI: A 35-year-old used car trader was stabbed to death by a scooterist following an argument on a service road of Eastern Express Highway, in front of a traffic police chowky, in Pant Nagar, Ghatkopar, around 2.30pm on Sunday, reports S Ahmed Ali.Police said an argument broke out between the victim, Zeeshan Shaikh, and the scooterist when they crossed at close range at a service road entry/exit point. As the verbal duel continued, the scooterist, who was with a woman pillion rider, threatened to teach Zeeshan a lesson, got down, took out a small knife from the vehicle boot and stabbed him. Police are in search of the two suspects who fled the spot immediately. The people gathered at the scene rushed the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. Zeeshan was with a friend who is now a police witness.As the stabbing happened in front of Vikhroli traffic chowky on EEH, police sources said the entire sequence of event may have been captured in CCTV camera and they are scanning the footage. Zeeshan, a resident of Parksite Vikhroli , ran a second-hand car dealership named Samar Motors in Vikhroli .Pant nagar Police have registered a case, while the Mumbai Crime Branch has launched a parallel investigation.
Multiple teams are now scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the attacker. Police sources said that the motive may not have been premeditated murder. A blow to a vital part of the body during the heat of the moment may have caused the victim's death, the sources added.A senior officer confirmed that a case has also been filed at the Pantnagar police station and efforts are underway to trace the accused scooterist and the woman who accompanied him. "We are reviewing footage and questioning witnesses. All angles are being investigated," the officer said.
