Though he left Pittsburgh with a tearful and heartfelt good-bye, Mike Sullivan is not still coaching the Pittsburgh Penguins. Sullivan, who coached the Penguins for ten years, is presently the New York Rangers' head coach. Before he departed, he still desired to thank the fans and Pittsburgh. On Wednesday, Sullivan erected a large billboard in Pittsburgh with a concise yet effective message. It featured a photo of him cradling the Stanley Cup and read, "Thank you, Pittsburgh. The Cup family is forever. Mike Sullivan." This billboard indicates how much he appreciated the team and the fans.

Mike Sullivan became a member of the Penguins in December of his inaugural season and immediately contributed to the team winning large.
Mike Sullivan guided the Penguins to win the Stanley Cup a total of two times in his inaugural season and again the following year. These consecutive championships in 2016 and 2017 were unforgettably special for the team and the fans.
Mike Sullivan coached the Penguins for nearly a decade. During his first seven years, he led the team to the playoffs. Although they did not make it to the playoffs the last three years, Sullivan is still the franchise record holder for most wins and most games coached with the Penguins.

Mike Sullivan discussed leaving the city and team before he departed, mentioning how significant the team and city meant to him. Mike Sullivan explained that it wasn't easy to leave due to the ways in which Pittsburgh altered his life.
"It's hard to explain," Mike Sullivan said in December when speaking about his stint with the team. "This job changed my life and career. I feel very fortunate that I was able to coach here."
He also stated that the Penguins are a first-rate organization and that coaching in Pittsburgh improved him as a coach and as a man.
Mike Sullivan is now preparing to guide a new team the New York Rangers but part of him will always remain in Pittsburgh. His farewell message made one thing clear: the connection between him and the Penguins will never be forgotten. He acknowledged how he grew as a person, coach, and leader with the Penguins.
