Man dies in road accident near Namakkal

NAMAKKAL: A man, who suffered injuries in a road accident at Veppadai in Namakkal district on May 21, died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment in Coimbatore Government Medical College and Hospital.The deceased has been identified as Mariappan, 22, of Edappadi in Salem district. He was working in a private company at Veppadai.The accident happened on the Veppadai Road while he was riding on his two-wheeler. A cargo van hit his two-wheeler. Mariappan fell on the road and suffered injuries. Locals rushed him to Erode Government Hospital, where he received initial treatment before being transferred to Coimbatore Government Medical College and Hospital. "Despite medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Wednesday," said an officer at the Veppadai police station. The Veppadai police registered a case.
